Abdul Ganiyu Folorunsho Rasaq (SAN) 1927 -2020

The first Nigerian lawyer from Northern Nigeria, Abdul Ganiyu Folorunsho Rasaq (SAN) has died.

He was born and had his early education in Onitsha, in Nigeria’s Eastern region to parents from Ilorin. Early on in his career he had practiced law in Zaria and was the legal adviser to the Northern Peoples Congress (NPC) he was fluent in all three major Nigerian languages.

During the first Republic, he was Nigeria’s ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire and between 2000 – 2003 he was the President of the Nigerian Stock Exchange.

He is survived by his wife Raliat; and children including, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq.
