1938: Oba Adesoji Aderemi, Ooni of Ife.

Oba Adesoji Aderemi, Ooni of Ife (1930 – 1980) who also served as the governor of the Western Region, Nigeria between 1960 and 1962.

Here he is with his master builder examining the plans for the building of his new home in 1938.

He had been living in an older, smaller home for the first 8 years into his rule and had previously refused to authorise the construction of a better home until the Native Administration had completed and paid for the clean, piped water supply provided to his people.
