Sir Sidney L. Poitier (February 20, 1927 – January 6, 2022)

Hollywood actor Sidney Poitier died today at 94. Here he is in the 1957 film The Mark of the Hawk – which also stared Eartha Kitt. It was about Obam (Sidney Poitier) a London-educated African who returns to his homeland to take a political post.
Obam’s brother is in charge of a rebel organization, determined to topple the white-dominated government. Obam must choose between seeking out racial equality through peaceful means, or casting his lot with his brother
The Mark of the Hawk was partially shot on location in Enugu, Nigeria.
The Mark of the Hawk was released in Britain as The Accused and retitled Shaka Zulu on video.
